Willie Mae Brown

October 24, 1932 ~ July 19, 2022 (age 89)


Ms. Willie Mae Brown “Tutt”, was the daughter of the late Richard Brown and Pearlie Brown.  She was born October 24, 1932 in Marshall, Texas.

 At an early age, she united with the Shiloh Missionary Baptist Church in Scottsville, Texas.  While serving her time there, she was a Sunday school teacher also served on the Usher Board for many years.

She received her education at G.W. Carver in Karnack, Texas.  She was later employed at Blue Buckle Inc. for many years, and later worked for Marshall Manor Nursing Home where she later retired after many years.  She enjoyed sewing, working in the yard, spending time with her babies (cats), attending church on Sundays and spending time with her family.  She was well-known in her community and loved by many.

On Tuesday, July 19, 2022, Willie Mae Brown departed this life at Christus Good Shepherd in Marshall, Texas.  She was preceded in death by her parents, Richard and Pearlie Brown; two sisters, Thelma Brown Gladney and Beulah Brown Rudd; and two brothers, Robert Brown, Sr. and Reverend R.B. Brown, Sr.

She leaves to cherish her memories one brother, James Brown, Sr. of Marshall, Texas and two loving great nephews, Cedric Watson (Meka) of Scottsville, Texas and Cornilus Watson (Nathalia) of Kilgore, Texas whom she had a hand in raising, and a host of nieces, nephews, family and friends.
