Ms. Wilhelmina Hurd James was a wonderful daughter, sister, aunt, cousin, and friend that was loved, is missed, and will always be cherished. Wilhelmina was born on March 2, 1936 in Woodlawn, Texas to the late Lorenza Hurd and Lucille Clark. She accepted Christ at an early age and united with the Starlight Baptist Church of Woodlawn. After moving with her parents to Marshall, Texas, she joined the Greater Macedonia Baptist Church. In 1954, she graduated from H.B. Pemberton High School and attended Bishop College. Wilhelmina married Wade C. James and they moved to Dallas, Texas. While in Dallas, she worked as a Beautician and joined Carver Heights Baptist Church. After several years, she moved back to Marshall and worked for MISD until she retired. She also reunited with the Greater Macedonia Baptist Church. Throughout her life, Wilhelmina never met a stranger…sharing her love of animals, gardening, and hats. Wilhelmina departed this life on Wednesday, June 3, 2020. She is preceded in death by her parents, Lorenza and Lucille Hurd; husband, Wade C. James; long-time companion, Thelmon Flemming; and nephew, Erick W. Cox. Wilhelmina leaves to cherish her memory her sister, Lorean H. Ford of Duncanville, Texas; niece, Felicia (Roger) Henderson of DeSoto, Texas; nephew, Tommie (Nanetta) Ford III of Marshall, Texas; four great-nieces, Raven Williams and Jasmine Nobles (Longview, Texas), Ryan Henderson (DeSoto, Texas), Destiney Ford (Marshall, Texas); two great-nephews, Je’ Shon Hamilton (Marshall, Texas) and Roger Henderson III (DeSoto, Texas); and Goddaughter, Fay Esters (Karnack, Texas).
