Beloved husband, cherished father, grandfather, great-grandfather and great-great-grandfather, treasured brother and friend, Clarence Duayne Sharp, age 84, passed away in Longview, Texas on Saturday, January 1, 2022. Clarence, affectionately known as “Wayne”, was born on November 7, 1937 in Mena, Arkansas to Arthur Clarence Sharp and Edna Lee (Smith) Sharp.
Wayne is preceded in death by his children, Donita Strother, Donald Strother and Glenda Davenport; his parents; his brothers, Arthur Lee Sharp, Jack Malcom Sharp and Ronald Gale Sharp; and his sister, Marie Ritchel. He is survived by his loving wife of over 50 years, Betty Lou (Jones) Sharp; children, Rick Sharp (Michelle), Patricia Pratt and Sharon Brannon; 17 grandchildren; 32 great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild; siblings, John Sharp and Colleen Strother (Eddie), as well as numerous nieces, nephews and other family members and friends who loved him dearly.
Wayne proudly served his country in the United States Army and later used his strong work ethic and many talents as a painter, mechanic, automobile salesman and home builder. Wayne had a generous heart and giving nature, helping anyone in need. He loved his wife without measure and said he was going to hold on for their 50th wedding anniversary. Wayne was truly loved by all who knew him and will be deeply missed.
A time of visitation will be held for Wayne on Thursday, January 6, 2022 from 2:00-3:00pm at Bowser Funeral Home in Mena, Arkansas.
