Cherished wife, beloved mother, devoted daughter and friend of many, Tami Edison (DeWitt) Benton, age 61 passed away in Longview, Texas on Saturday, February 8, 2020 surrounded by her family. Tami was born in Olney, Texas on June 16, 1958. She is preceded in death by her grandparents, Rayford and Odessa Forbis; her brother, Jeff “Pedro” DeWitt; her brothers-in-law, Roy Kennemer and Larry Quada and her four legged fur baby, Daisy Duke. Tami is survived by the love of her life, her husband of 21 years, Lynn Benton; her son, whom she adored, Nathan Edison (Jesenia); Chris Kettler, who was like a second son to her; her God-Daughter, who meant so much to her, Alexis Burnaman; her parents, Martha and David Dore; her brother, Steve DeWitt; several nieces, nephews, sisters-in-law, brothers-in-law, many other family members and friends who were blessed by her life; and her little grand-doggies, Texas and Riley. Lynn and Tami moved to Marshall from Corpus Christi to be close to and help family members whom they loved. She was rarely seen without a Pepsi, her favorite drink. She loved to travel, especially time spent going on cruises and she loved going to the casino but her true passion in life was her family. Tami will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved her. Tami’s final, selfless act of love was as an organ donor in hopes that other lives would be blessed. A Celebration of Life will be held for Tami at Meadowbrook Funeral Home on Wednesday, February 12, 2020 from 3:00pm to 5:00pm. On-line condolences may be offered at www.meadowbrookfh.com
