Robert Hatcher Morton, Sr., 86, passed away Thursday, November 24, 2022 in Longview. Robert was born August 19, 1936 in Marshall, Texas to Aaron Tatum Morton, Sr. and Thelma Inez Pearson Morton. In May of 1957, he married the love of his life, Alma Lucille Blount Morton. Robert worked for Thiokol Ammunition Plant for many years and then for Swepco where he retired. He loved the outdoors and enjoyed hunting and fishing. Robert was well loved and will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved him. He was preceded in death by his parents; daughter, Sharon Morton; brother, Hollis Morton; cousin, J. T. Morton; nephew, Paul Morton; niece, Becky Morton; brothers-in-law, Charles Maxwell and Wade Johnston; and father-in-law and mother-in-law, Lloyd and Gweneth Blount. Robert is survived by his loving wife, Alma Lucille Morton; brother, Dwight Elardo; son, Robert “Rusty” Morton; sister-in-law, Dana Morton; nieces and nephews, Mike Morton, Mary Clark, David Morton, Skip Morton, and Barb Morton; sisters-in-law, Lucille Morton, Annalee Cole, Anita Johnston, Margaret Maxwell, and, Mary Easterling; brother-in-law, Harold Cole; and numerous other nieces, nephews, friends and family who loved him dearly. Visitation will be held 6-8 pm Thursday, December 1, 2022 at Meadowbrook Funeral Home. Graveside service will be held Friday, December 2, 2022 at Grange Hall Cemetery with D.W. McLendon officiating.
