Beloved husband, cherished father and grandfather, devoted uncle and friend of many, Ricky Wayne Oney, age 69, passed away suddenly of a heart attack on February 17, 2021 in Marshall, Texas. He was born in Marshall on January 18, 1952 to James Albert and Eunice Estelle (Wells) Oney. Ricky Wayne, affectionately known to his family as “Rick Bob”, was preceded in death by his parents, J.A. “Buddy” and Eunice Estelle Oney; his daughter, Sherri Estelle Oney; his brother, James William “J.W.” Oney; his sister, Patricia Ann Oney and his parents-in-law, Tom and Donna Blassingame. He leaves to cherish his memory, the love of his life, his wife, Sandi Sherri (Roy) Oney; his children, Ryan Wayne, Sarah Faye, Beau Jason and Gracie Ann Marie Oney; his grandson, Sean Alexander Heim; his cousin that was like a sister to him, Linda and B. J. Oney; his brothers and sisters-in-law, Alice Oney, Michael and Angie Weltzheimer, Thomas and Larina Blassingame, Shirley and Kenneth Fisher, Betsy and Wayne Wall, Robert and Shannon Blassingame, Dorothy and David Finch and Tony Blassingame and Jayne Jaffe. He is also survived by his nieces and nephews, Laurie McClenden, Sherry Booth, Brett Weltzheimer, Thomas III and Carol Blassingame, Steve Oney, Megan and Zech Jeffries, Kody and Caylin Fisher, Wade and Taylor McCool, Stevie (Pepper) Holt, Randall and Courtney Wall, Calab Wall, Brooke Blassingame, Blake Blassingame, Jacob Gregory, Gunner Heim, Kailyn Heim; a ginormous number of great nieces, great nephews, great-great nieces, great-great nephews; a large number of cousins, and many coworkers and friends who knew and loved him. Ricky Wayne was raised in Marshall and graduated from Marshall High School in 1971. He then worked for Smith Steel Casting Company for over 20 years. He then enrolled in college in order to further his education and graduated from Panola College as a Licensed Vocational Nurse working with Marshall Regional Hospital, Meadow Pines and Allegiance Specialty Hospital, loving the medical field and taking exceptional care of each patient he had the honor of helping for over 20 years. He loved fishing, hunting and playing Zelda on the Nintendo 64, but his true passion in life was his family and the time spent with each of them. Ricky’s life was well lived and he was well loved. A Celebration of Life service will be held on Wednesday, February 24, 2021 at 6:00pm at Meadowbrook Funeral Home with Debbie Rogers officiating.
