Deputy Sheriff Sergeant Thomas Richard Hardcastle was born July 24, 1941 in Dallas County, Texas. His father, Thomas Elias Hardcastle, and his mother Mary Catherine Bowers Hardcastle preceded him in death. He is survived by his wife of 50 years, Dorothy Maxine Franks Hardcastle, and his children, Lonny Gene Hardcastle, Tori Hardcastle Dunn, and Thomas Chad Hardcastle, and his sister, Vallory Hardcastle.
After graduating from high school in Garland, Texas, he completed some college. He served four years in the United States Navy and as he transitioned into civilian life, he began to pursue his calling into Law Enforcement by serving in the Sheriff’s Departments of Dallas County, Texas and Harrison County Texas, with over 35 years of service. He has a deep respect and honor for all law enforcement and was truly honored to have the opportunity to serve in Harrison County.
When Richard saw Dorothy on March 9, 1970, it was love at first sight, and they were married on July 10th, 1971. Not long after marriage they both accepted Jesus in their heart and began a personal relationship with Christ and followed Him and His plan for their lives. They spent a couple years attending a bible college – “Word of Faith” in Dallas, Texas where they received a foundation of the Word of God to help guide and direct their lives. They moved to Marshall, Texas to continue their Discipleship Training and he continued his law enforcement with Harrison County Sherriff Department until retirement.
The Hardcastle family wants to thank all the officers and community and The Church in Marshall Family for all the love and support and especially the prayers during this time. Visitation for Richard will be 6-8 pm Thursday, October 28, 2021 at Meadowbrook Funeral Home. Graveside service will be 10:00 am Friday, October 29, 2021 at Yates Cemetery.
