Beloved husband, devoted son and father, cherished grandfather and brother, Mark Stuart Nelson, age 63, passed away on Tuesday, October 27, 2020 at his home in Waskom, Texas. Mark was born in Ruston, LA on December 19, 1956 to Jackie D. and Gloria Jean (Pilcher) Nelson. He is preceded in death by his father-in-law, Glen Brown; his paternal grandparents, J. D. and Vera Nelson and his maternal grandparents, James and Mattie May Pilcher. Mark is survived by the love of his life, his wife of 39 years, Rebecca Sue Nelson; his son and daughter-in-law, Wade Stuart and Jessica Nelson; his grandchildren, whom he adored beyond measure, Tyler Wade Nelson and Aubrey Faye Nelson; his parents, Jackie D. and Gloria Jean Nelson; his sisters, Sherri Thompson, Donna Crocker, Terri Kay and her husband, Randy; his mother-in-law, Doris Brown and numerous other family members and friends who knew and loved him. Mark graduated from Louisiana Tech with a business degree in marketing and had worked his entire life in the oil industry. He loved his church, loved bull riding, bronc riding and calf roping in his younger years, spending many summers at Josey Ranch. Mark also loved the oil field and spent his time there building a remarkable work ethic, but his true passion in life was his family and his grandchildren, who affectionately named him “Mister”. Mark’s life was well lived and he will be deeply missed by all who were blessed with his friendship. In honoring Mark’s wishes, the service will be private.
