Beloved wife, devoted mother, cherished grandmother, sister and friend of many, Marjorie Ann (Permenter) Chappell, age 79, passed away at her home surrounded by her family on Tuesday, April 13, 2021. Marjorie was born on March 27, 1942 in Tenaha, Texas to Chester and Marietta (Haight) Permenter. On September 20, 1967, she married Glenn R. Chappell and together they shared 53 years of love and laughter. Marjorie is preceded in death by her parents, Chester and Marietta (Haight) Permenter and her sister, Lillie Carrington. She is survived by her husband, Glenn R. Chappell; her daughters, Carla Chappell and her spouse, Angie Chappell; and Margaret Chappell; her granddaughter, Alexandria Ogden and her spouse, Justin and her grandson, Samuel Fielder; her great-granddaughter, Lilly Ann Ogden; her sister, Jerraldeen Parsons; her brother, James Permenter; her “adopted” daughter, Virginia Betancourt and her family; numerous other family members, friends and neighbors who knew and loved her. Marjorie loved to cook, was a great homemaker, wife, mother and grandmother. She truly enjoyed working in her yard, staying home with her family and taking care of her husband and children. In her younger years, Marjorie had worked part time, but her true passion in life was her family. A time of visitation will be held on Friday, April 16, 2021 from 5pm-7pm at Meadowbrook Funeral Home. Private graveside service will be held at Old Home Cemetery in Shelby County where she will be laid to rest next to her parents.
