Marilyn Zedlitz

March 18, 1940 ~ July 3, 2021 (age 81)

Obituary

Loving wife, mother, sister, grandmother, and friend to many, Marilyn Zedlitz, 81, went home to be with her Lord and Savior Saturday, July 3, 2021 in Harleton. Marilyn was born March 18, 1940 in Ore City, Texas to Reed Cannon Coppedge and Frankie Mae Adams Coppedge. On May 24, 1958 in Tahoka, Texas, she married the love of her life, James Zedlitz. James has been a minister for over 60 years, and Marilyn was always by his side. She was the true definition of a minister’s wife. Their ministry took them on many travels and journeys spreading the love and word of God. During their travels in earlier years, they had a CB radio in their vehicle. James’ handle was “Pulpit Pounder” and Marilyn’s was “Organ Grinder” because she played the organ. Imagine all the lives they ministered to over those air waves! Marilyn could pray like no other and it has been said the foundations of hell shook and trembled when she prayed! She loved her family tremendously. Marilyn served as the Director for a daycare for many years. She loved her Dr. Pepper and even passed her love of it on to her children and grandchildren. Marilyn TRULY lived her life for God and on Saturday, she heard the words she has been waiting to hear for so long: “Marilyn Zedlitz, well done good and faithful servant.” She is and will forever be in the presence of the one she lived her life for. In her own words, “Heaven Is My Home”. Marilyn will be missed dearly by all those who knew and loved her, however, she is home…no night, no tears, no sorrow, or pain. She IS home! Marilyn is preceded in death by her parents; and a great grandson, Judah. She is survived by her loving husband of 63 years, James Zedlitz; sons, Mark Zedlitz (Brenda), Mike Zedlitz (Kim), and Nathan Zedlitz (Debbie); grandchildren, Brendan, Hilary, Chloe, Jennifer, Jason, Johnathan, and MaLeigha; great grandchildren, Kaylee and Atlas; sisters, Linda Baldwin and Rose Addison; and numerous nieces, nephews, and other family members whom she loved with all her heart. A Graveside service will be held at 10 a.m. Wednesday, July 7, 2021 at Ore City Cemetery in Ore City, Texas. Visitation will be at the graveside prior to the service from 9-10 a.m. Officiating will be Rev. Mike Littlefield.
