Beloved father, cherished grandfather and great-grandfather, Johnny Dee Whitney, age 81, passed away in Waskom, Texas on September 23, 2021. Johnny was born on January 28, 1940 in Paris, Texas to Earl Whitney and Berniece Alsobrook Whitney.
Johnny is preceded in death by his son, Jason Dean Whitney; his grandson, Bradley Wayne Miller; parents, Earl and Berniece Whitney; and sisters, Delores Langford and Teresa Phillips. He is survived by his son, Jeffrey Whitney (Amy); daughter, Jennifer Miller-Martin (James Martin); grandchildren, Jacob Whitney (Lisa), Casey Peterson (Ralph), Augustus Whitney, Teresa Rea (Jonathan), Trevor Whitney, Spencer Whitney (fiancée, Miranda Wilson), Brittni Roberson (Cody), Chloe Miller, Callie Martin, Denver Martin and Carson Harper; great-grandchildren, Rowan Peterson, Zion Rea, Asaph Rea, Bradley Roberson and Macy Roberson, as well as numerous other family members and friends.
Johnny proudly served his country in the United States Army. He was mechanically inclined and worked many years as an aircraft technician, retiring from Boeing. During his career, he worked on many military and governmental aircraft. He obtained his pilot’s license in younger years and truly loved the time spent flying. Johnny enjoyed visiting casinos and shopping at Ollie’s, as he always loved a “good deal”. He also enjoyed being outdoors, especially working in the yard and doing lawn work. Johnny adored his family, especially the precious time spent with all his grandchildren and great-grandchildren. He was well loved and will be deeply missed by all who knew him.
A Memorial Service will be held for Johnny at 3:30pm on Wednesday, September 29, 2021 at Cornerstone Fellowship in Caddo Mills, Texas with Pastor Robert Ingram officiating. Online condolences may be offered at www.meadowbrook.com
