James "Jamie" Ellis Martin

January 23, 1971 ~ June 18, 2022 (age 51)

Obituary

Beloved husband, devoted father and grandfather, cherished son and brother, James “Jamie” Ellis Martin, age 51, passed away at his home in Karnack, Texas on Saturday, June 18, 2022.  Jamie was born on January 23, 1971 in Atlanta, Texas to Ellis and Patricia (Perry) Martin.  He is preceded in death by his step-son, Bradley Miller; his step-father, Thomas “Tiny” Lee, his father-in-law, Johnny Whitney and his brother-in-law, Jason Whitney.  He is survived by his wife, who was the love of his life, Jennifer Miller-Martin; his children, Denver Martin, Callie Martin, Chloe Miller, Carson Harper and Brittni Roberson and her husband, Cody; his grandchildren, Bradley Roberson and Macy Roberson; his mother, Patty Lee; his sister, Amy Blackburn; his nephews, Kodie Pryor and Brandon Hancock; his brother-in-law, Jeff Whitney and numerous other family members and friends.  Jamie proudly served his country in the United States Army during Desert Storm.  He loved the Lord and was a member of Word of God Ministries in Shreveport where he served in the Stephen Ministries and also served as an Altar Minister. He taught a “Be Courageous” Class for men where he shared the path to the Lord with many.  Jamie was charismatic, light-hearted and had a quick wit with a laugh that was contagious.  He never met a stranger and loved helping others.  He loved thrift shopping, hunting, singing, traveling the country in an 18-wheeler and date nights with Jennifer, but his true passion in life was his family and the time he spent with them.  He retired after working many years in the oil field industry.  Jamie’s life was well lived and he was well loved.  He will be deeply missed by those who were blessed by his life and love.  A Celebration of Life service will be held for Jamie on Thursday, June 23, 2022 at 4:00pm at Summit United Methodist Church.  A time of visitation will be held immediately following the service.
