Beloved father, cherished grandfather, great-grandfather and brother, James Wiley Freeman, age 81, passed away in Hallsville, Texas on Tuesday, October 13, 2020. James was born in Upshur County, Texas on November 12, 1938 to Wiley Rayford Freeman and Dessie Irene (Owens) Freeman. James is preceded in death by his wife of 59 years, Florence Baker Freeman; his parents, Wiley and Dessie Freeman; siblings, Eula Mae Dorsey, Rayford Freeman, Emma Waits, Ernest Freeman, Rena Jones, Russell Freeman and Albert Freeman; and sister-in-law, Dale Holman. He is survived by his children, Wesley Freeman (Bonnie), Tracy Freeman (Donna), Cheri Scott and Donna Miller; his grandchildren, Nicholas Freeman, Ryan Freeman, Aaron Freeman, Geoffrey Freeman, Marvin Freeman, Chase Scott, Haley Thomas, Kelsey Scott and Riley Miller; great-grandchildren, Cody Freeman, Rustin Freeman, Archer Freeman, Elaina Thomas, Emery Thomas, Axel Thomas, Kyler Hardin, Vannon Jones and Josh and Memphis Robinson; brothers, Billy Freeman, Kenneth Freeman and Judson Freeman; sisters, Dorothy Seelbach and Glenda Floyd; sisters-in-law, Billie Smeltzer, Sherry Chastain, Georgia Case, Penny Bozell, as well as numerous other family members and friends. James attended school in Tatum, Texas and was a member of Pine Forest Baptist Church. He worked as a welder and during his career, he helped build the O.H. Ivie Stacy Dam. He loved to tinker and build things. He also loved to hunt, fish, collect rocks and going to Diamond Mine in Murphreesboro. James was a huge fan of the Texas Rangers and his local Hallsville Bobcats. James was well loved and will be deeply missed by all who knew him. The family would like to extend a special thank you to Jerry Neel of Texas Home Health Hospice for the excellent care given to James. Visitation for James will be held from 6-8pm, Thursday, October 15, 2020 at Meadowbrook Funeral Home. A Graveside Service will be held at 1:00pm, Friday, October 16, 2020 at Chalk Hill Cemetery in Henderson, Texas with Bro. Jacob Waldron officiating. Mr. Freeman’s grandsons will serve as pallbearers.
