Beloved husband, cherished father, grandfather, great-grandfather, and treasured brother, Emil Duane Morin, age 72, passed away in Longview, Texas on July 19, 2021. Emil was born on March 15, 1949 in Oroville, California to Arnold Emil Morin and Nellie Dora O’Conner.
Emil is preceded in death by his infant daughter, Lisa Michelle; his mother, Nellie Doss; his father, George Leo Doss; sisters, Kathy Dunn, Lisa Moore and Jeanette Parker; brothers, Roger Doss, Arnold Morin and Jimmy Moore; niece, Kim Nolan; and sons-in-law, Roger Maddox and Joe Welch. He survived by his loving wife, Bettie Pauline (Moore) Morin; his children, Shelly Morin, Tammie Maddox, Tracie Welch, Terrie Riley (Kit), Tina Turlington (Jeff), Jerry Morin (Alinda) and Phillip Morin (Ryn); grandchildren, Russ Guttirrez (Nina), Corey Maddox (Morgan), Courtney Hampton (Dustin), Tristen, Ridge and River Riley, Avery Pena, Matthew Morin (Becca), T.J. Morin, Shannon Morin, Riley Turlington, Sadie and Drew Tyra; great-grandchildren, Cruz, Kason, and Kinzley Maddox, Carlie Hampton, Avery and Lexie Morin, and Kaylyn and Vincent Ciardullo; brother, George Doss (Linda); sisters, Brenda Harber (Ben) and Betty Nolan (Fred); brother-in-law, Emory Moore; sisters-in-law, Susie Hatten (Anthony) and Helen Gaona, special aunt, Helen Alford, as well as many other special family members and friends who loved him dearly.
Emil was raised in Marshall, Texas and attended Marshall High School. He left school to join the United States Army, in which he proudly served his county for 13 years. He served in the Vietnam War from 1967 to 1969 and received the Army Commendation Medal and 2 Bronze Stars. Emil loved his family fiercely and loved making sure his family had everything they wanted and needed. He was a generous, good man and always got more joy out of giving than receiving. Emil had a great sense of humor and could always get everyone laughing. He pastored a church for several years before his health declined, and truly loved the time spent with his grandchildren at their sporting events and family get-togethers. Emil was well loved and will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him.
A time of visitation will be held for Emil on Wednesday, July 21, 2021 from 6-8pm at Meadowbrook Funeral Home. Funeral Service will be held Thursday, July 22, 2021 at 2:00pm at Meadowbrook Funeral Home with Bro. Danny Lee officiating. Interment to follow at Algoma South Cemetery. Serving as Pallbearers will be Ronnie Harber, Robby Parker, Ryan Nolan, Chase Doss, Chris Dunn and Mark Alford. Honorary Pallbearers will be Mike Ford, Pat Ford and Dwight Elardo.
