Beloved husband, devoted father, cherished grandfather, brother and friend, Dennis Wayne Morton, age 64, passed into the arms of his Lord and Savior early Monday morning, January 11, 2021 in a tragic house fire at his home. He was born on September 17, 1956 in Marshall, Texas to Lonnie C. and Violine (Ponder) Morton. Dennis graduated from Camden County High School in Kingsland, Georgia and entered the military proudly serving his country in the United States Marine Corps from 1976-1981, receiving an Honorable Discharge as Staff Sergeant. He then went to work as a heavy equipment operator in 1981 for Texas Utilities Mining Company, retiring in 2010 due to health conditions. Dennis loved music, especially Z.Z. Top, George Strait and Conway Twitty. He loved to do woodworking, loved to pick on people in fun, loved to drink a beer, enjoyed a big ole dip of snuff and gathering with friends. However, his true passion in life was his family, in particular…his grandchildren. He was a very proud Papa and those children were his pride and joy. He attended Cumberland Presbyterian Church in his younger years and continued to praise God while attending church via television every Sunday morning from 11am until noon. His family knew not to disturb him during his worship service and he would quickly tell them “don’t bother me”! On April 28, 2000, in Marshall, Texas, Dennis married the love of his life, his wife of twenty years, Edith Galeazzi and together they enjoyed much love, laughter and countless fun times. Dennis was also a member of the Elks Lodge where he and Edith shared many great times until his health failed him. Dennis is preceded in death by his parents, Lonnie and Violine Morton; his brothers, Doug Morton and Ronnie Morton and his sister, Jackie Morton. He is survived by his wife, Edith Galeazzi Morton; his children, Connie Morton and her husband, Chris Ott, Manuel Galeazzi and his wife, Ashley and Stephanie Yates and her husband, Steven. He is also survived by his grandchildren, whom he adored, Hunter Childers, Conner Childers, Aubreigh Blackshear, Bralyn Blackshear, Caydence Galeazzi, Memphis Galeazzi, Arianna Galeazzi, Zoey Yates, Watson Yates, Luca Yates; his brother, Roy Morton and his wife, Loretta; his sister, Denise Morton; his brothers-in-law, Eric Galeazzi and his wife, Emalie and Jorge Galeazzi and his wife, Angelica; his sister-in-law, Betty Galeazzi, numerous nieces, nephews, and other family members and friends who knew and loved him. Dennis was well loved and lived life to the fullest. He was a true blessing to those whose life he touched. A Memorial Service celebrating the life of Dennis Wayne Morton will be held on Sunday, January 17, 2021 at 2:00pm at Meadowbrook Funeral Home with Debbie Rogers officiating.
