Obituary

Carolyn Marie “Kelly” Walsh went to be with Jesus in the early morning hours of January 21, 2023.  She passed peacefully in her sleep and awoke in the arms of her personal Savior, Jesus Christ.

She was known by many names.....mom, Kelly, Mrs. Kelly, Mrs. Walsh, but her favorite name she was known by was “Nanny.”  Not only did her grandkids and great grandkids call her Nanny, but countless other friends and family members knew her by that name as well.

“Nanny” was born on March 21, 1941.  She grew up in Waskom, Texas where she was active in every organization in the school.  She graduated Valedictorian of her class.  In 1960, she married the love of her life, Jim Walsh, and what a life they shared together.  The two of them ministered together in hundreds upon hundreds of revival meetings across this country.  When she wasn’t traveling and singing in revivals, she was on the home front raising two children.  She cooked, she cleaned, she gardened, she canned fresh vegetables, she sewed, she ran errands, she took care of others, she taught Sunday School, she was the youth leader at Bethany Baptist......the list could go on and on. Her gifting was hospitality.  Countless people have eaten meals either in her home or she was faithful to take food to others when they were in need or when she was just being a good neighbor and friend.   Nanny’s family and faith were the center of her life and that never changed.

Mrs. Kelly was preceded in death by her mother and father, Garland and Essie Hendrick.  Those left to cherish her memory are her husband of 62 years, Jim Walsh;  her daughter Dawn and her husband, Jerry;  her son, Shawn and his wife, Cindy;  her precious grandchildren Deke Dillard and wife, Andrea;  Fancy Pettit and husband, Steven;  Ryker Dillard;  Lanie Walsh and Libby Walsh;  her adored great-granchildren Asher and Teegan Pettit, Sloane, Judah, Murphy and Dakota Dillard.

“Nanny” and the family have been blessed by many friends who sat with her, texted her, visited her, called her, brought food and showed love through their kindness.

Many lives have been touched by the life of Kelly Walsh and her one wish would be that each person who knew her would continue to show Jesus in their life and in their dealings with others.

A donation can be made in Kelly Walsh’s honor.  She  supported two ministries that were near and dear to her heart:    Samaritan’s Purse (Franklin Graham) www.samaritanspurse.org  and David Jeremiah’s “Turning Point” ministries www.davidjeremiah.org.

Visitation will be held Saturday, January 28th  from 9:30 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. at First Baptist Church, Waskom (185 Colquitt Street, Waskom, Texas).  Service to follow at the church at 11:00.  Graveside will be for family only.

“Peace I leave with you;  my peace I give you.  I do not give to you as the world gives.  Do not let your hearts be troubled and do not be afraid.”  John 14:27
