Obituary

Beloved husband, cherished father, grandfather and great-grandfather, treasured brother and friend, Billy Ray Bush, Sr., age 87, passed away in Shreveport, Louisiana on Friday, May 13, 2022.  Billy was born on November 1, 1934 in Hope, Arkansas to Lester Bush and Audie (McKamie) Bush.

Billy is preceded in death by his parents, Lester and Audie Bush.  He is survived by his wife of 64 years, Anna Jean (Easterling) Bush; his children, Billy Bush, Jr. (Georgie), Ricky Bush (Jackie), Angel Hicks (Johnny) and Craig Bush; grandchildren, Derrick Bush (Larissa), Brittney Hickey (Travis), Wesley Borders (Miranda), Charlie Borders, Joshua Bush (Mariella), Meagan Britt (Jerry), Caleb Bush (Brittany), Chandler Bush (Faith), Kelsie Carter (Trace), Karlie Perpich (Nick), Jon Mike Hicks (Lexi), Anna Grace Hicks, Jaxon Hicks, Chris Bush (Rikki) and Gabriel Bush (Shelby); great-grandchildren, Christian, Shyla, Alexa, Tristan, Josie, Jett, Jase, Wyatt, Kaylynn, Joseph, Mateo, Sophia, Gavin, Hayden, Landry, Harley, Tanner, Chloe, Vallon, Indy, Wrenley, Addison, Brantley, Benjamin, Aaron and Rocky; his brother, Paul Bush (Joan), as well as his four-legged fur baby, Lacy.

Billy graduated from high school in Waskom and attended college at Stephen F. Austin University and Centenary College. He was called to active duty in 1961 during the Cuban Missile Crisis, proudly serving in the Army National Guard.  He worked at Fab Steel in Waskom for over 30 years.  From 1975 to 1980 he also worked at Mesker Steel in Evansville, Indiana.  He moved back to Waskom in 1980 and returned to Fab Steel.  He completed his career with Panola Harrison Electric Coop before retiring in 2000.  Billy was a member of First Baptist Church in Waskom.  At one time, he acted as Music Director/Choir Director in Waskom as well as for Bethany Baptist Church in Bethany, Louisiana and Gateway Baptist Church in Newburgh, Indiana.    Billy loved his precious family and was well loved in return. He will be deeply missed by all who knew him.

A time of visitation will be held for Billy on Saturday, May 21, 2022 from 1-2pm at First Baptist Church in Waskom.  A Celebration of Life will immediately follow at 2pm with Joshua Bush officiating.  Serving as Honorary Pallbearers are Derrick Bush, Chris Bush, Gabriel Bush, Wesley Borders, Charlie Borders, Jon Mike Hicks, Jaxon Hicks, Trace Carter, Nick Perpich, Josh Bush, Caleb Bush, Chandler Bush, Travis Hickey and Jerry Britt.
