Reflection of Betty Sheppard Fletcher
Beloved mother, grandmother and great-grandmother, cherished sister, aunt and friend, Betty Louise (Sheppard) Fletcher, age 70, departed this life on February 21, 2021 at GSMC in Longview. Betty was born on January 3, 1951 in Marshall, Texas to Azzie Sheppard Sr. and Annie Mae (Green) Sheppard.
Betty is preceded in death by her parents, Azzie Sr. and Annie Mae Sheppard; her brother, Raymond Sheppard and sister, Bert Marshall. To cherish her memories, she leaves her three children; ; one daughter, Sharon Dickey, and two sons, Corey (Ashley) Dotson/Dickey Sr., and James Jr. (Clarissa) Parish, all of Marshall; one brother, Azzie (Elentia) Sheppard Jr. of Fort Worth, Texas; seven sisters, Oretha Brown of Fort Worth, Annie R. Adams, Provella Griffin, Bobbie Marshall, Frances (Hermon) Buford, Venola Johnson and Debra Hall, all of Marshall; grandchildren, JaKayla, Jamra, Caleah Parish, Kemieese Daniels, Telesia McCowan, Jacoby Adkins, Coresha, Corey Jr. Dotson, Aiyssa, Ayden, Amore, Amarion, CorTavious; nine great-grandchildren; godchildren, C.L. Stokes Sr. and Gloria; a lifelong friend, Sammy R. Stoker, and a number of nieces, nephews and other loving relatives and friends.
Betty attended school in Marshall, Texas and accepted Christ at St. John Baptist Church. She was united in holy matrimony to Frank Dickey, and later in life, to Donald Fletcher. Betty worked for City Laundry and Home and Health care for many years. She loved to sing and loved gambling on the “boats”. Betty was well loved and will be truly missed by all who knew and loved her.
