Loving wife, mother, “BeBe”, and sister, Barbara Seals Stewart, 71, passed away Tuesday, November 16, 2021 at her home. Barbara was born June 19, 1950 in Nacogdoches, Texas to Manuel Seals and Lula Mae Powell Seals. On August 5, 1983, she married the love of her life, Don Stewart.
Barbara is preceded in death by her parents; brothers, Stuart and Dennis Seals; nephew, Derrick Griffin; niece, Lindsay Oney; and other family members that are all celebrating with her in heaven. She is survived by her husband of 38 years, Don Stewart of Longview; son, Mike Jones of Marshall; daughters, Gwen Hall of Longview and Kasey Russell (John) of Longview; siblings, Donald Seals (Sharon), Bridget Griffin (Darryl), Crow Seals (Patty), Lillie VanHecke (Shawn), Shirley Oney, and Judy Seals all of Marshall; grandchildren, Kyle Russell (Alex), Kaelie Hestand (Garrett), Tanner Hall, Tyler Russell, Bryar Jones, Skylar Hall, Kelslee Russell, Dalton Russell, Rylee Russell, and Trevor Russell; great-grandchildren, Ethan Russell, Kash Hestand, Hazel Hestand, and Joel Russell; and many nieces, nephews, cousins, and extended family that adored her.
In addition to owning and operating Don’s Automotive with her husband, Barbara worked as a 911 dispatcher for Harrison County, and was also employed for many years with Merritt Plaza Nursing Home. She was an “extreme” lover of cats, very artistic, creative and an avid crafter. Barbara had a passion for softball and played for any league she could play on. Known as “the Nolan Ryan of the Women’s Softball League”, Barbara involved her family in the game and created wonderful memories for all on the softball field. Barbara loved her family beyond measure and will be deeply missed by all who were blessed to know her.
Visitation will be 6-8 pm Thursday, November 18, 2021 at River Crossing Cowboy Church. Funeral service will 1 pm Friday, November 19, 2021 at River Crossing Cowboy Church with Pete Sellers officiating. Graveside service will be 3:30 pm Friday, November 19, 2021 at Rosewood Park in Longview.
