Andrew Wyatt “Pete” Champion, Jr., age 75, passed away on Thursday, October 7, 2021 in Longview, Texas. Pete was born on October 17, 1945 in Marshall, Texas to Andrew Wyatt Champion, Sr. and Martha Lee (Sexton) Champion.
Pete is preceded in death by his son, John Wyatt Champion; his wife, Caroline Champion and his parents, Andrew and Martha Champion. He is survived by his wife of six years, Jeanell Saxton; children, Andrew D. Champion (Amanda) and Angel McCarty; sisters, Marion Martinez (Rafael) and Pat Lumpkin (Wayman); stepchildren, Cathy Vickrey (Allen) and Jennifer Saxton; grandchildren, Rebel Hunter Champion, Jackson McCarty, Makenzie McCarty, Madeline Woods and Shyanne Winstead; great-grandchildren, Orin Woods, Piper Sue Winstead, Teagan Nicole Winstead, Colter Reed Winstead, Bentley Stowe and Waylon Stowe, as well as numerous other family members and friends.
Pete proudly served his country in the United States Marine Corps during the Viet Nam War. He loved helping people and served as a paramedic before going to work as a machinist in the oilfields. Pete never met a stranger and was always full of wise cracks. He loved to hunt, fish and work in his shop. Pete was well loved and will be truly missed by all who knew and loved him.
