Troy Lynn Henigan

July 24, 1953 ~ September 13, 2018 (age 65)
Troy Lynn Henigan, age 65 passed away in Longview, Texas on September 13, 2018 with his family by his side. He was born in Marshall, Texas on July 24, 1953 to Charlie Lee and Martha Lorene (Waits) Henigan. Troy Lynn Henigan was kind of shy and always smiling. He never laughed out loud... it was always the smile and a little chuckle. But on September 13, 2018, we know he was really smiling when he saw his beloved, Beverley, and met his Lord and Savior face to face. On July 24, 1953 Lynn was the 8th child of 9 children that were born to Charlie Lee and Martha Lorene Henigan of Marshall. (He would forever be the "Baby Boy" of the Henigan family). His dad had four children from a previous marriage, so Lynn also had two half-sisters and two half-brothers. His maternal grandparents were Jess Sidney and Elcie Nail Waits. His paternal grandparents were Allen and Elizabeth Henigan. Lynn grew up with four sisters and four brothers. He was only six years old when his dad died. He was devoted to caring for his mother and his older sisters and brothers were his role models. He loved having a big family and followed them into the work force at age 15. After working for his brother, Billy, (an electrician), and Workman Electric, Lynn took his exam and became the 2nd electrician in the family. It would serve him well the rest of his life. His electrician experience in wiring many new homes and businesses gave him the courage and skills to build his new home at a young age. He also used his electrical skills to help his brothers and sisters, family members and many others. He was very smart and built his own computer long before computers were a household word. One of the happiest days of his life was when he met Beverley Jean Knabenshue of Harleton. They married December 5, 1971. His other happiest days were their four children. He loved being a father to them and caring for them. One of his saddest days was burying his premature baby daughter, Margaret Lorene Henigan at Pope City Baptist Church Cemetery. Lynn and Beverley loved road trips and they would take off in a heartbeat, night or day, to go visit family or enjoy a new adventure. Life was never dull around Lynn. Before they had children, many of their road trips were taken on his motorcycle. It was a family affair, all his brothers, two of his sisters, some spouses and some older teenagers who had motorcycles. It was fun going camping at Lake O Pines and everyone bringing their motorcycles and riding all around the lake and sometimes in the lake (by accident). In later years motorcycles weren't allowed to get off the paved road at the lake. He and Beverley, his brother, Charles and wife, Glenda took several long motorcycle trips together. Lynn grew up in the 1960s going to dirt track races in Marshall where three of his brothers had race cars: Eldon Henigan (Pop), Thomas Henigan (Hot Rod) and Roy Henigan. He loved to watch his brothers and all the other race car drivers at the races. It never got too hot, too dusty or too loud for him. He loved the race all of his life, watching three generations of racers; his brothers, his nephews, Charlie Henigan and Tommy Henigan and great-nephew, Chris Henigan. Lynn's family that had already left their earthly home are his beloved wife, Beverley (2017); his mother and daddy; grandparents; brothers, Thomas (Hot Rod) Henigan (2012), Roy Henigan (2017), sister, Retha Rene' Henigan Graves (2008); nephew, James Torrence (2006); brothers-in-law, Jim Torrence, Sr. (2003), Phillip Bunch, Ken Ramey and Jack Phillips; half-brothers, Eldon (Pop) Henigan and Buster Henigan; half-sisters, Iceal Henigan Eaker and Ruth Henigan; Aunt Florene (Sister) Waits Henigan; Uncle Gradie and Aunt Margaret Holloway Waits. Those left to cherish his memory are his sons, Troy Henigan, Robert (Robbie) Henigan; daughter, Shelley Henigan Gates and her husband, Jared; granddaughter, Tinsley Jean Gates; grandson Tristen Gates; brothers, Billy Henigan and his wife, Jackie Lou, Charles Henigan and his wife, Glenda; sisters, Betty Henigan, Charlene Henigan Torrence Franks and her husband, Greg, Elizabeth Henigan Kennedy; brother-in-law, Larry Graves; sister-in-law, Marion Taylor Henigan; numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and many friends who knew and loved him. A Celebration of Life Service will be held on Monday, September 17, 2018 at 3:00pm at Athey Baptist Church, Harleton with Bro. Sandy Hoover officiating followed by the family meal.
