Virginia "Gin" (White) Lasworth

December 19, 1932 ~ July 31, 2019 (age 86)

Virginia White Lasworth, age 86, passed away on Wednesday, July 31, 2019 after a full and joyful life.  Gin was born on December 19, 1932 on her brother’s fifth birthday, in Stamford, Texas to Leslie and Floye White.  On November 27, 1959, she married Earl James Lasworth.  She is preceded in death by her husband; her children, Stephen and Julianna; her parents, Leslie “Ray” and Floye White; her brother, William T. “Bill” White; and her sister, Bobbie White Brittain.  Gin is survived by her sister, Mary White Scott (Conner); her nephew, David Scott; her nieces, Jill Scott Matyastik (Bill), Cindy Scott Obermeyer (Paul), Amy Scott Harlow, Kim Brittain and Leslie Brittain Paul (Matt) and many great nieces, great nephews, great-great nieces.  Living the first 30 years of her life in Texas, Gin finished North Texas University in 1954 and went to work in Dallas where she met the love of her life.  On November 27, 1959 she married Earl James “Jim” Lasworth and they moved outside of Texas for the next 30 years, the last 20 in Maryland.  With the death of their daughter and Jim’s retirement, they returned to Texas in 1992, moving to Marshall in 1993.  Gin transferred her membership to First United Methodist Church in Marshall in 2002 and has been active as a member of the Board of Trustees there for three 3 year terms.  Visitation will be held on Saturday, August 3, 2019 from 1-2pm at First United Methodist Church.  Memorial Service will be held at 2:00pm on Saturday, August 3, 2019 at First United Methodist Church with Rev. Rodger Garbs officiating.  Gin loved her Lord and her church.  She did research and pricing on new pew cushions and always wanted new ones for the church.  In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorials in Gin’s name to the Pew Cushion Fund, C/O First United Methodist Church, 300 East Houston Street, Marshall, TX 75670.  Online condolences may be offered at www.meadowbrookfh.com
