Steven Alan Barnett, Sr., age 64, passed away on Friday, September 27, 2019 in Hallsville, Texas surrounded by his family. Steven was born in Crane, Texas on January 28, 1955 to Forrest Glen and Ethel Katherine (Howard) Barnett. He is preceded in death by his parents; and his sister, Mary Katherine Barnett. Steven is survived by his brother, Thomas Blake Barnett and his wife, Chong; his sons, Steven Alan Barnett, Jr. and his wife Allishia and Kevin Forrest Barnett and his wife, Amanda; his daughter, Melinda Nell Barnett and her husband, Kevin; his children’s mother, Tonya Bowen; his grandchildren, Kaylee Nicole Malgieri, Tanner Steven Alan Lappin, Abel John Barnett, Asher Ray Barnett, Kaitlyn Ann Barnett, Rylee Merlice Taylor, Kyle Alan Barnett and numerous other family members and friends who knew and loved him. Steven earned his bachelor’s degree in physical education with a minor in history at Texas Tech. He loved the Dallas Cowboys, possibly being their most devoted fan, win or lose, and was known for saying he “was born with a star on his diaper”. He loved all music but had a fierce love of the Beatles, collecting over 1,000 albums and box sets, with a dedicated “Wall of Music” in his home. Steven retired from Arco Oil and Gas, working in the oilfield. He previously lived in Ft. Stockton for many years but moved to Hallsville to be closer to his family when his health deteriorated. He enjoyed being with his children and grandchildren and will be deeply missed. A Celebration of Life Service will be held for Steven on Sunday, October 6, 2019 at 2:00pm. A reception will be held immediately following the service from 3-5pm on Sunday, October 6, 2019 at Meadowbrook Funeral Home. Interment will be a private family gathering.
