Sterling Wesley Hollis, age 5, passed away in Shreveport, LA on September 20, 2019. He was born in Texas City, Texas on May 7, 2014, the son of Charles Wesley Axtens, Jr. Sterling is preceded in death by his grandmother, Tracy Ann Rodriguez; his great-grandmother, Betty Lou Lucas; and his cousin, John Michael Carpenter. He is survived by his devoted father, Charles Wesley Axtens, Jr. and step-mother, Sarah Nichole Turner; his brother, Luke Davidson; grandparents, Charles Wesley Axtens, Sr. “Papa Chuck”, Ryan Rodriguez "Papa Ryan", Michael Hollis “Grandpa Dinosaur”, Lisa Aimee Hollis, “Grandma Dinosaur”, Robert and Carrie Wassam; his aunts and uncles, Carol Ann Axtens, William Michael Huddler, Rebekah Fae Huddler, Brandon Rodriguez, Kristopher Rodriguez, Holly Mason, Noah Raleigh, Nolan Wassam, Ricky Nazario Lopez, Angelina Marie Lucas, Margarita Gabrielle Welch, Michael Marshal Hollis, Mikayla Rain Hollis, Maya Rose Hollis and countless other family members. Sterling loved Spider Man, Batman, Paw Patrol, P.J. Mask and Five Nights at Freddy's. There was a light in his small, sweet soul, and he did not have to live long for those who loved him to see his precious personality. He was small, yet mighty with an infectious laugh. His absence will make our world sadder and smaller. Sterling was loved by so many and while we wanted the perfect life for him, we have learned the hard way that some stories don’t have a clear beginning, middle or end. Life is truly about not knowing and having to make changes; taking the moment and making the best of it, without knowing what is going to happen next. Our family is better because Sterling lived; his sweet smile will be truly missed and he will forever be in our hearts. A Celebration of Life for Sterling will be held on Saturday, October 26, 2019 at 3:00pm at Meadowbrook Funeral Home. A balloon release and time of visitation will be held immediately following the service from 4pm-5pm at Meadowbrook Funeral Home. On-line condolences may be offered at www.meadowbrookfh.com
Little Angel, rest your wings. Sit with me for a while.
How I long to hold your hand and see your tender smile.
Little Angel, look at me…I want this message clear.
That I’ll forget your precious face is my biggest fear.
Little Angel, can you tell me why you’ve gone away?
You weren’t here very long…why is it you couldn’t stay?
Little Angel shook his head. “These things I do not know”.
“But I do know that you loved me and that I loved you so”.
