Elizabeth Anne Guyer

July 12, 1938 ~ March 12, 2019 (age 80)

Elizabeth Anne Canson Guyer was born in Durant, Oklahoma, July 12, 1938, and died in Marshall March 12, 2019. She was a loving wife, a wonderfully resourceful homemaker and mother, a great sister and aunt, a caring grandmother and great grandmother, and a truly one of a kind person who was as witty and good-humored as she was stubborn and tenacious.

Anne was preceded in death by her mother and father, Barney E. Canson, Sr., and Thelma Roller Canson, by her infant son John Anthony Guyer, and by her loving husband of more than 60 years, Sammy Guyer.

Anne is survived by four sons and their wives, Sam and Kim Guyer of Marshall; Tim and Delicia Guyer of White Oak; Rob and Tracy Guyer of Arlington; and Toby and Payal Guyer, of Dubai, United Arab Emirates. She also leaves behind grandchildren Samantha Nelson, Karen Guyer, Timothy and Steve Guyer, Ross, Nicholas, and Cassie Guyer, Daelen Guyer, and Autumn, Ethan, Tatum and Krish Guyer, and Cory Carswell, as well as six great-grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.

Anne was also dearly loved by her brothers and sisters and their spouses: Barney and Penny Canson; Jack and Nancy Canson; Kay and Ray Clement; Susie and Bobby Mosteller; and Charlotte and Danny Hoya. She will be forever missed.

Anne will be remembered by all who knew her as fiercely independent. She was an industrious, loyal, and fun loving person who was devoted to her family and friends. She loved to dance, and she and husband Sammy were longtime members of the Dan Zante Dance Club. In her later years, Anne enjoyed occasional trips to casinos, where she mastered the penny slots, and surprised her friends by winning more often than not. She had an adventurous streak. In the early 1980s she and sister Kay made a Thelma and Louise road trip in a red convertible to visit her new nephew Barney, in Los Angeles. A year later she repeated the trip by airplane with sister Charlotte. In 2017, she fulfilled a dream trip she and her husband Sammy had planned and traveled halfway around the world to visit their son Toby and his family in Dubai.

Anne overcame many difficulties throughout her life. She was a hard worker, detail oriented, and she excelled at office management and bookkeeping. She was always brave, fearless, and good natured and would help anyone in need to the maximum of her resources. She not only cared about her family and friends, Anne cared about everybody, regardless of their imperfections which she seldom failed to see but often overlooked. She was a great listener, and reminded us often that "life is what it is." She would have been a very good detective because Anne was not easily fooled.

Anne would want her family to express her gratitude to her caregivers April, Janet, and Carmen from Hospice Plus. She was especially grateful for the loving care given by her granddaughter Samantha Nelson.

To her family and friends, we must find our comfort in knowing Anne is whole and happy now, and reunited with her loved ones in a perfect place.
