Obituary

Dorothy Grace Friday Zevely went home on Monday, October 14, 2019.  She had spent the day before with her son, Mitch, and his wife, Jody.  They had a good day together.  Gaggy, as she was called, fought a brave battle with auto-immune disease for nineteen long years.  Dorothy Grace Piper was born to Ralph and Jane Piper on October 29, 1938.  She had brothers, Boyd Piper, Maurice Piper, Harold Piper, Robert Piper, Jerry Piper; and sisters, Carmen Piper Heminway and Evelyn Parker.  She was preceded in death by her grandparents, and two husbands, Fred Friday and Daryl Zevely.  Gaggy is survived by her son and daughter-in-law, Mitch and Jody Friday of Apple Springs; son-in-law and daughter, James and Shay Thompson of Marshall; stepchildren, Clay and Regina Zevely, Scott Zevely, and Ann and Paul Terry.  Gaggy’s life revolved around her grandchildren.  Her granddaughters include Krystal Conrad, Devaney Shoemaker, Kristin Zevely, Sarah Grace Walley, Kayla Zevely and Katie Thompson.  Her grandsons include Kevin Zevely, Isaiah Terry, Sean Terry, Kurt Thornton, Kevin Thornton and Harrison Thompson.  Gaggy had one precious great-granddaughter, Kira-Leigh Conrad.  Gaggy was born in Pennsylvania but moved to Kilgore, Texas as a sixth grader.  She was a teacher with Lovelady I.S.D. and Hallsville I.S.D.  She loved teaching and taught many girls how to cook and sew in Lovelady. She was an English teacher in Hallsville.  She led the singing and taught Sunday School for years at Zion Hill Baptist Church in Friday, Texas.  Gaggy’s special friends and neighbors were Joe and Ginger Martin, Jason Chambers and son, McCallen, Sabrina Key and sons, Carson and Jack.  Gaggy’s family would like to thank Dr. Bahirwani, Esmeralda and April for the great care she received at Baylor for the past nineteen years.  They both took care of and loved Gaggy.  Gaggy will be missed but we will see her again!  In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to First Baptist Church, 201 N. Central Street, Hallsville, Texas  75650.  Visitation is scheduled for Thursday, October 17, 2019 at Meadowbrook Funeral Home from 6-8pm.  Funeral Service is scheduled for Friday, October 18, 2019 at Zion Hill Baptist Church in Friday, Texas at 1pm with Bro. John Smith officiating. Interment to follow at Zion Hill Cemetery. Online condolences may be offered at www.meadowbrookfh.com
